From President, Randy Grudzinski…
Dear Members:
I have served as your President for 3 years. I was convinced to take this roll at the persuasion of Ron Ackerman who wanted a much deserved break. The Posse is a great organization with many people who have worked tiredlessly over the last 62 years. Many members have donated much time and effort, tools, equipment and cash over the years. Since becoming your President, I have always believed the least we could do is preserve and maintain the efforts of those who came and made sacrifices before us. Arenas, even in rural communities like ours are being squeezed out and closed due to development, regulations and cost of insurance and operating. My goals three years ago was to sustain and improve The Posse by 1) obtaining a new tractor to adequately work the arena so we could continue to have and enhance the events at the grounds. Although there were plenty of objections, we accomplished this 2) Continue Ron Ackerman’s direction in improving the arena by adding more sand and screening the rocks out of the arena. Improve the overall condition and maintenance of the grounds. 3) Improve relations with the Valley Girls Racing Association and the Jr. Showgrounds. 4) Create additional sources of revenue for The Posse other than just the Cook Shack. In my opinion, this was putting too much reliance on the Cook Shack to provide most of the revenue for The Posse. 5) Create additional income through added value and support to our sponsors. 6) Create additional income through modest increases in member dues and event fees. 7) ask new Board members to give a statement of why they want to serve on the board and make sure they are willing to take on projects and to show up for board meetings as well as I have asked existing board members to take on more responsibilities 8) to ensure that everyone who uses the arena realize how important it is to pay your dues (we had numerous people using the grounds who were not current members which created a few problems, i.e. insurance issues, lack of funding for projects and not accurate counts for sponsor information. 9) increase the turnout for work days and increase volunteer help on series nights.
